JusJoJan: 17. Complaint

My complaint today is about celebrities because they all seem to be gifted liars and contortionists of the truth.

Case in point:

  • a singer was papped while enjoying her holiday.
  • she also instagrammed it all for her devoted followers.

That’s standard practice these days.

The problem was that, there’s a major difference between the pictures.

Now, I don’t have a problem with people adding filters or posting their good sides but…when you’re a celebrity with young female fans, it’s an issue. It’s an even bigger issue when you claim to be happy with yourself all while photoshopping your waistline just so you can show off on Instagram.

On one hand I felt bad that her privacy was intruded on – I think body shaming is so unnecessary and demeaning and this article conveniently alerted us all to the Instagram discrepancy – but…it was interesting to say the least.

So, before you comment on certain pictures with ‘lifegoals’ or ‘bodygoals’ be sure that what you want to emulate is real.

In the case of the celebrities…

A little honesty never hurt anyone.

I snark about things. I'm also a señorita who used to have picture of D-List actors as her avatar. Now it's a pen. So... expect greatness from me. Or something.

  1. I suppose there are a lot of ups and downs to allowing your life to be put under a microscope. The people looking through the lens are either going to see something fantastic or horrid, but the truth is, it’s all just ordinary.
    Nice post. 🙂

    1. Thank you! And I agree. Celebrities and people in the spotlight are so obsessed with concocting fairytale lives and people are so desperate to believe it even though deep down we are the same and equally boring 😄
